About Glassy Cuts
The future is float.
Glassy Cuts grew from artist Lisa Stirrett’s belief that float glass could be the foundation for extraordinary art. She had fallen in love with glass and taken every class she could, but traditional art glass was expensive. While supporting her family, she began working with the glass she could access: float.
What Lisa found was a material capable of vivid color, fine detail, and beautiful work on a remarkable range of scales. Float glass became the foundation of her career, from gallery exhibitions and custom commissions for businesses to large public installations. Years of making and selling that work, experimenting with fusing, and seeing how her pieces held up over time taught her what the material could do. She loved the results enough to keep asking more of it.
Lisa brought that experience into a teaching studio, where visitors could create their own glass art using her signature pre-cut shapes. She wanted other artists to experience the possibilities she had found in float glass.
From shapes to a world of possibilities
What began with pre-cut shapes has grown into System 82 colorants, No-Cap Mica, kits, and education for artists working with float glass. Lisa’s years of hands-on experience continue to shape how we explore techniques, test materials, and share what we learn.
Our No-Cap Mica line grew from that same curiosity. Developed and tested in the studio, it gives artists a way to add sparkle and detail without requiring a clear cap. We’re always asking what else is possible, then heading into the studio to find out.
Built on curiosity, shared with artists
We love creating with float glass, and we love seeing what other artists make with it. We use our products in the studio, share what we discover, and help customers understand what a material can do and why we’re excited about it. Their projects and questions give us new things to explore, too.
That exchange is part of Glassy Cuts. It’s how we keep learning and creating with the artists who use our materials.
Glassy Cuts operates out of the Lisa Stirrett Creative Warrior Studio, where Lisa and her team continue to create and teach. Lisa’s desire to make an impact beyond the studio also led her to found Creative Warriors, a separate nonprofit dedicated to empowering women through education and sustainable business opportunities.
We can’t wait to see what you create!
